I hope everyone has had a nice summer.  It’s time to start up the Marching Rockets.

  1. There is a New Member and Parent Orientation Tonight,  Monday July 13 at 6:00 in the band room.  This is a great time to learn more about the opportunities to be successful in the Marching Rockets.  It’s a great time to ask questions.  Returning members and families are also welcome to attend.  
  2. We have practice on Tuesday 7/14.  We will not be practicing on Thursday 7/16.

  1. Uniforms-  We will fit uniforms at the beginning of band camp.  

We could use some parents to help with uniform fittings,lunch, and watering the band.

  1. The Clermont County Fair Parade will be Sunday, July 26.  We will wear blue band shirts, shorts and gym shoes. Please plan to arrive in front of the Owensville building by 12:30(it becomes challenging to get there after that time).  We will have the band trailer with instruments in front of the Owensville Building. The band will be dismissed on the infield grass at the fairgrounds.  Please have a plan to meet your child or tell them where to meet you.


ARRIVAL and DISMISSAL:  Students should be dropped off and picked by the band room door at the back of the school.  I try my best to be at every band event 30 minutes before the report time to open the door.  STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE INSIDE THE SCHOOL BUILDING BEFORE MR. MOORE, MR. STENGER, MS. MACLEOD, or MS. LEIMAN  ARRIVE.  Band camp week is a good chance to figure out who lives near each other so car pools can be arranged. 
  •  Please leave the first four spots by the building available for band director parking.  
  • We share this area with the football team, so please be aware when picking up and dropping off. 
  • During football games, the buses and trailers will need a path to this area.  Please wait in a parking space.
  • Students must wait in the area outside the band room for pick up.  I don't want to leave anyone unsupervised.  If you anticipate being more than 15 minutes late, it would be helpful to make other arrangements for your child's transportation.They should always wait near the firelane by the band room so Mr. Moore  knows who is still waiting for a ride.
  • If you think you are the last one getting picked up, please let the directors know you are the last one leaving.

-Students should not be wandering around the school.  We have limited access to the band room, choir room, and a designated restroom.

-Band members should always arrive at practice planning on working outside in athletic shoes for marching with shorts and t-shirt.  CNE marching rockets do not rehearse in barefeet or flipflops.  

-CNE Band Members should have a natural hair color(does not have to be their own), and long hair should be worn up for performances.  If your hair touches the back of your uniform jacket, it should be worn up.

-Lastly, it is very important that students eat properly, rest effectively and hydrate properly.  The CNE Marching Rockets work hard to prepare for our performances.  We are only as strong as our weakest member, and you aren't helping anyone by being tired or sick and sitting on the sideline.  Be prepared to work hard

It is Williamsburg week.  This is the first time in 12 years that Williamsburg will not be our final opponent.

What you need to know this week:

  1. Friday-Away Game at Williamsburg
    1. Students arrive at 5:30.  Change into uniforms and load the trailer/buses. Students will have a chance to visit the concession stand.  Band Boosters will provide water.
    5:30 Arrival-Change and Load.
6:40 Enter the stadium
7:00 Kickoff
8:15 Halftime-We will perform some things from the Jack Black Show.

The band boosters staff the concession stands for CNE athletic competitions.  Band students can generate trip scholarship by working the concession stand or having family and friends work for them in the concessions stand.  Trip scholarship may be used for band camp fees, band shoes, drama cast fees and 2026 Florida tour payments.  We have ONE concession openings next week for football on Thursday night.  2025 Fall Concession Spreadsheet  Please email Ms. Leiman or Mr. Moore to sign up.

2025 Pumpkin Run Pumpkin Run The band will be staffing the horse barn booth for the pumpkin run.  This is the only booth that earns the band money or trip scholarship.  Workers should check in at the athletic boosters before checking in at the Horse barn booth.  Students do not have school on Friday.  Our Football game is Thursday night that week. Homecoming Update

 Rocket Fans:

JUST A FEW QUICK NOTES ABOUT TOMORROW.
    We will be on a pep rally schedule tomorrow.  For High School students, 7th Bell  will start at 12:37 and the Pep Rally will start at 1:22.  I will pick up the 8th grade band members at their usual time, 1:08.  

    The Parade and GAME-  I will open the band room by 5:00.  Please report to the school by 5:30.  For the parade, please have your band pants and band shoes with a royal blue band shirt.  We will not wear band jackets or hats.  Colorguard will wear their full uniform.  We will make a decision to wear band jackets later in the night.

Week 2 update

Rocket Fans:
 
MVCA has informed us that they have no room for the band or band fans at their stadium.  They have increased their enrollment and campus and are hopeful to be able to accommodate our band and fans in the future.  The athletic director and I have been trying to find a solution with their athletic department.  I just received the final no for the band on Friday night.

What you need to know this week:
 
  1. MVCA will not be hosting the Marching Rockets.
 
  1. The band boosters staff the concession stands for CNE athletic competitions.  Band students can generate trip scholarship by working the concession stand or having family and friends work for them in the concessions stand.  Trip scholarship may be used for band camp fees, band shoes, drama cast fees and 2026 Florida tour payments.  We have several concession openings this week and next week that need filled-several spots open next week.  2025 Fall Concession Spreadsheet  Please email Ms. Leiman or Mr. Moore to sign up.
 
  1. The band boosters have a Drive 4 UR Community Event on Saturday, September 6 from 10-2 on the CNE Campus.   You can help the band boosters earn funds for instruments and uniforms by signing up to test drive a car at the event and completing a post event survey.  You can sign up to support the Marching Rockets through this link.
  2. 2025 Pumpkin Run Pumpkin Run The band will be staffing the horse barn booth for the pumpkin run.  This is the only booth that earns the band money or trip scholarship.  Workers should check in at the athletic boosters before checking in at the Horse barn booth.  Students do not have school on Friday.  Our Football game is Thursday night that week.   4. Students should sign up for the Music Department Florida Tour.  A $300 Deposit and Enrollment form is due Tuesday, September 16.  The trip packet can be found here.




What you need to start planning for next week:
  1. Tuesday- Nite Band Practice 5:30-8:00
  2. Friday-Home Game vs. Holy Cross / Disney Application Parade Submission Filming / Band Pictures  
    1. Students may stay after school in the band or choir room.  We will do band pictures, then film a video to submit to Disney.  We will also rehearse on the practice field.  Students will be fed a hotdog and chips before the game.

What you need to know this week:

Students will lead the trailer and change into uniforms.  We will depart on 2 buses by 5:45.  We will parade into the stadium.  The Marching Rockets will only be performing in the stands.  Students will have a chance to visit the concession stand.  Band Boosters will provide water.

Parents:  Please wait in a parking spot as the trailer and 4 busses are trying to unload in a congested area.  Students should wait near the band room until their ride arrives.

ARRIVAL and DISMISSAL:  Students should be dropped off and picked by the band room door at the back of the school.  I try my best to be at every band event 30 minutes before the report time to open the door.  STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE INSIDE THE SCHOOL BUILDING BEFORE MR. MOORE, MR. STENGER, MS. MACLEOD, or MS. LEIMAN  ARRIVE.  
  •  Please leave the first four spots by the building available for band director parking.  
  • We share this area with the football team, so please be aware when picking up and dropping off.
  • During football games, the buses and trailers will need a path to this area.  Please wait in a parking space.
  • Students must wait in the area outside the band room for pick up.  I don't want to leave anyone unsupervised.  If you anticipate being more than 15 minutes late, it would be helpful to make other arrangements for your child's transportation.They should always wait near the firelane by the band room so Mr. Moore  knows who is still waiting for a ride.

It is time to start the school year.  I hope to see many band students at the Open House tonight.  There is no night band this week.

  2. We will have the opportunity to sign up for the Ford test drive fundraiser.
  3. Also-I could really use a few more 6th graders in the beginning band.  We have instruments for them to use.  If you know any 6th graders, send them my way.
