Marching Rockets April Update

Rocket Fans:

We have several exciting events quickly approaching.

What you need to start planning for next month:

  1. The Band boosters are sponsoring a Meatballs and Music Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday, May 3.  We are offering presale tickets through Monday, April 28.  The presale form is linked here.  All band and choir students will be performing at the finale at 6:30.  The running schedule will be updated on this document as it becomes finalized.

  1. Graduation is Monday, May 19.  HS and 8th Grade band members should plan to attend. This is optional, but would benefit the band and your child.  The dress for the performance is nice clothes.  They will be on stage during the ceremony.  I will be wearing a suit.    There are two options for transportation.  Students may ride the school bus.  It will be at CNE and departing by 5:15PM.  Alternatively, students may arrive at crossroads with their family.  I would ask that they arrive by 6:15.   The ceremony will end at 8:00.  The bus will depart after the ceremony and should arrive back at CNE HS by 8:45.

Week 7 Update

Rocket Fans:

Game this week is on THURSDAY.  Many events have been added at the end of the month and next month.

What you need to know this week:

  1. THURSDAY!-Home game vs. Bethel Tate.  Report time is 5:30.  We will change into uniforms and perform at the tailgate at 6:00.  After, we will practice with the seventh grade band members on the band practice field.  We plan to parade into the stadium at 6:40.  Pregame will start at 6:50.  Kickoff  is scheduled for 7:00.  We will also perform at halftime and postgame.
    1. Students should eat before they arrive.   Students will have a break during 3rd quarter to visit the restroom and concession stand.  
    2. Alumni Band will perform with the band during post game.

  1. The band boosters staff the concession stands for CNE athletic competitions.  Band students can generate trip scholarship by working the concession stand or having family and friends work for them in the concessions stand.  Trip scholarship may be used for band camp fees, band shoes, drama cast fees and 2026 Florida tour payments.  We have several concession openings this week and next week that need filled-several spots open for Friday Night football and Tuesday Night Middle School Volleyball.

  1. 2024 Pumpkin Run Pumpkin Run The band will be staffing the horse barn booth for the pumpkin run.  This is the only booth that earns the band money or trip scholarship.  Workers should check in at the athletic boosters before checking in at the Horse barn booth.  Students do not have school on Friday.  Our Football game is Thursday night that week. Week 5 Update

Rocket Fans:

This week the Marching Rockets hit the road for a football game against Cincinnati Country Day.

What you need to know this week:

  1. Friday-Away game at Cincinnati Country Day.  Report time is 5:30.  We will change into uniforms and load the trailer before we depart at 5:40.  Kickoff  is scheduled for 7:00.  We will also perform at halftime and in the stands.
    1. Students should eat before they arrive.   Students will have a break during 3rd quarter to visit the restroom and concession stand on the visitor side of the stadium.  
    2. Boosters will provide water during the game.

We had a great Night Band practice last night to prepare for our first performance this Friday.
 
What you need to know this week:
 
  1. Friday-Home game vs. Miami Valley Christian Academy.  Report time is 5:30.  We will rehearse on the practice field.  Students will wear summer uniforms-Blue Band Shirt/Black Athletic Shorts/Athletic Shoes/Long Hair Up.   We plan to parade into the stadium at 6:40.  Pregame will start at 6:50.  Kickoff  is scheduled for 7:00.  We will also perform at halftime and postgame.
    1. Students should eat before they arrive.   Students will have a break during 3rd quarter to visit the restroom and concession stand.

Ohio University Band Day
The Marching Rockets have been invited to attend Ohio University Band Day on Saturday, September 7.  The band will travel to Athens to perform at pregame and halftime of the Ohio vs. South Alabama Football game with the Marching 110 and 30 high school bands.  Report time will be 8:45 and we expect to return late.  Band Day Itinerary.
All participating students need to fill out this waiver from Ohio University Athletics.

MOORE, MR. STENGER, MS. MACLEOD, or MS. LEIMAN  ARRIVE.  
  •  Please leave the first four spots by the building available for band director parking.  
  • We share this area with the football team, so please be aware when picking up and dropping off.
  • During football games, the buses and trailers will need a path to this area.  Please wait in a parking space.
  • Students must wait in the area outside the band room for pick up.  I don't want to leave anyone unsupervised.  If you anticipate being more than 15 minutes late, it would be helpful to make other arrangements for your child's transportation.They should always wait near the firelane by the band room so Mr. Moore  knows who is still waiting for a ride.

  1. Summer Band Activities.

  2. Band Camp Lunch-The band boosters will provide lunch each day with the band camp fee $50.

  1. Uniforms-  We will fit uniforms at the beginning of band camp.  

We could use some parents to help with uniform fittings and lunch.

  1. The Clermont County Fair Parade will be Sunday, July 21.  We will wear blue band shirts, shorts and gym shoes. Please plan to arrive in front of the Owensville building by 12:30(it becomes challenging to get there after that time).  We will have the band trailer with instruments in front of the Owensville Building. The band will be dismissed on the infield grass at the fairgrounds.

-Students should not be wandering around the school.  We have limited access to the band room, choir room, and a designated restroom.

-Band members should always arrive at practice planning on working outside in athletic shoes for marching with shorts, t-shirt and mask.  CNE marching rockets do not rehearse in barefeet or flipflops.  

-CNE Band Members should have a natural hair color(does not have to be their own), and long hair should be worn up for performances.  If your hair touches the back of your uniform jacket, it should be worn up.

-Lastly, it is very important that students eat properly, rest effectively and hydrate properly.  The CNE Marching Rockets work hard to prepare for our performances.  We are only as strong as our weakest member, and you aren't helping anyone by being tired or sick and sitting on the sideline.  Be prepared to work hard.

Uniforms
Please check your house and car trunks for band uniforms and uniform pieces.  We are missing these entire uniforms and many other people are missing pieces.

Week 6 Update

Rocket Fans:

This week the Marching Rockets travel to Blanchester as the football team battles the Wildcats tonight.  Tomorrow, the Marching Rockets will perform at the Little Miami Band Show.


What you need to know this week:

  1. FRIDAY-Report time is 5:30.  We will load the trailer and change into uniforms before departing on the buses.  practice on the practice field and then change into uniforms.  The Marching Rockets will perform at halftime.
    1. Students should eat before they arrive.   Students will have a break during halftime to visit the restroom and concession stand.  
    2. Boosters will provide water during the game.  

  1. SATURDAY-Report time is 3:30.  We will practice and then depart.  The parade of bands starts at 5:30.

Tomorrow, the Marching Rockets will travel to New Richmond as the football team battles the Lions.  

We replaced the Ohio Band Day performance with the Little Miami Band Show on Sept. 23.

What you need to know this week:

  1. Friday-Report time is 5:30.  We will change into uniforms and load the trailer before departing.  The Marching Rockets will perform in the stands as New Richmond will be celebrating their homecoming at halftime.
    1. Students should eat before they arrive.   Students will have a break during halftime to visit the restroom and concession stand.  
    2. Boosters will provide water during the game.

Week 3 Update

Rocket Fans:

Tomorrow, the Marching Rockets will open our home season as the football team battles the Batavia Bulldogs. 

We replaced the Ohio Band Day performance with the Little Miami Band Show on Sept. 23.

What you need to know this week:

  1. Friday-Report time is 5:30.  We will practice on our practice field and wear uniforms.  The Marching Rockets will perform at pregame, halftime, and a post game show.  
    1. Students should eat before they arrive.   Students will have a break during 3rd quarter to visit the restroom and concession stand.  
    2. Boosters will provide water during the game.  

  1. Concessions appear to be filled for the next week.

What you need to start planning for next week:
  1. Tuesday- Nite Band Practice 5:30-8:00
  2. Thursday-Drumline tune up after school from 2:10-3:00.  This is for drumline only.  Late bus is available, please send a note stating that your child is staying after school for drum tutoring.
  3. Friday-Away game at New Richmond

Rocket Fans:

Tomorrow, the Marching Rockets will open our home season as the football team battles the Miami Valley Christian Academy. 

What you need to know this week:

  1. Friday-Report time is 5:30.  We will practice on our practice field and wear uniforms.  The Marching Rockets will perform at pregame, halftime, and a post game show.  There is the potential for kickoff to be pushed back to 8:00 to allow for the heat index to drop.  
    1. Students should eat before they arrive.   Students will have a break during 3rd quarter to visit the restroom and concession stand.  
    2. Boosters will provide water during the game.  

  1. We have several concession openings this week and next week that need filled-several spots open for Friday Night football.
