I really hope we get to have a football season and perform this fall. We need to do everything possible to prepare and plan for the season responsibly. Kids are going to need to bring their own water to band camp.
These are the results from the major aerosol study that is guiding our decisions for music classes. preliminary results Clarinet, Flute, Horn, Soprano Singer, Trumpet
The band boosters and school district have been working to provide a safer environment. The band boosters have purchased an ultrasonic cleaning machine for instruments. The sewing crew is working on making bell covers for all the instruments that could have water droplets exit from the bell-Brass and Clarinets. The band boosters have purchased flute/piccolo wind guards.
Mask guidelines for band:
-Masks should be worn by all students and staff prior to entering the band room.
-Masks should continue to be worn until all students are seated and ready for instruction (example, long rests, sectional work, moving around the room, etc.)
-No talking should occur in the room without a mask being properly worn.
-In instrument groups where a mask cannot physically be worn the mask should be worn over the chin and replaced during periods where the student is not playing.
-No talking without a mask.
Band camp is quickly approaching. We will only be able to meet in sections. Each section will have two opportunities to rehearse. This is different and proves a challenge for everyone. Please stay home if you don’t feel well.

Summer band policies:
Things that are new for everyone:
-All Adults must wear a mask.
-All students will wear a mask when they are not performing..
-Students must have a symptom/temperature check before they enter the building.
We will be following the non-contact sports/activity guidelines:
-All individuals present must adhere to six-foot social distancing before, during, and after all events.
- Participants must conduct daily symptom assessments(self-evaluation).
-Anyone experiencing symptoms must stay home.*
-No touch rule is in effect. All individuals must avoid physical contact with others including high fives, huddles, or other close contact occurring before, during, and after
the events.
- Players must not share individual water bottles or other beverages before, during, or after all events.
-No spitting at any time before, during, or after events.
-Spectators should wear face coverings.
-Athletes are strongly recommended to travel to the venue alone or with a member(s) of their immediate household, if possible.
-Face coverings are strongly recommended for individuals traveling to and from the venue and during participation in the activity.
-All individuals should avoid congregating in common spaces or parking lot before, during and after events. If applicable, individuals should enter or exit venues at
separate times to adhere to six-foot social distancing.
Some new band things:
-Bring your own water!
-Everyone should have their own music. No one should be sharing.
-No sharing drum sticks.
Some old band things:
-Students should be dropped off and picked by the band room door at the back of the school. I try my best to be at every band event 30 minutes before the report time to open the door. STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE INSIDE THE SCHOOL BUILDING BEFORE MR. MOORE OR MR. P ARRIVE. Band camp week is a good chance to figure out who lives near each other so car pools can be arranged. Please leave the first two spots by the building available for band director parking. Students must wait in the area outside the band room for pick up. I don't want to leave anyone unsupervised. If you anticipate being more than 15 minutes late, please make other arrangements for your child's transportation. They should always wait near the firelane by the band room so Mr. Moore and Mr. P know who is still waiting for a ride.
-Students should not be wandering around the school. We have limited access to the band room, choir room, and a designated restroom.
-Band members should always arrive at practice planning on working outside in athletic shoes for marching with shorts, t-shirt and mask. CNE marching rockets do not rehearse in barefeet or flipflops.
-CNE Band Members should have a natural hair color(does not have to be their own), and long hair should be worn up for performances. If your hair touches the back of your uniform jacket, it should be worn up.
-Lastly, it is very important that students eat properly, rest effectively and hydrate properly. The CNE Marching Rockets work hard to prepare for our performances. We are only as strong as our weakest member, and you aren't helping anyone by being tired or sick and sitting on the sideline. Be prepared to work hard.
Fair Parking Junior Fair Gate Keeper
The junior fair is still going to occur. We have been offered the opportunity to work the gates. No cash will be exchanged. People wanting to enter must have a pass or wristband. If you would like the opportunity to tell people “Have a nice day, park wherever you want”, or “No! Please turn around and leave.”
We will be using the little toll booth things. You can bring a fan or a chair.
For the first round of sign ups, you can email Mr. Moore moore_c@cneschools.org with your choice of dates and times. He will send you a confirmation email. This a good chance to earn scholarship for Florida 2021. You can view the doc here. Please don’t ask for permission to edit.
